Vicksburg Finishes Strong in Cross County Conference

Vicksburg’s men’s and women’s cross country teams both finished in third place in the October 20 Conference Championship meet in Otsego. The host was the eventual champion for both.

The men’s team totaled 104 points with help from the strong on the ninth and tenth place performances of senior Tyler Lewis and sophomore Kyle Strong. Sophomore Collin Eager was the next best finisher for the Bulldogs as he set a personal record in taking 17th. Senior Zachary Fenwick saved his best for last as well, setting a season and personal record as he finished 33rd.

For the women’s team, the lady Bulldogs finished just eight points off of second place winner Sturgis with a score of 110. It was junior Layna Steele leading the way again as she set a season record of 19:48.61 on her way to an 11th place finish. Seniors Ali Chioda and Victoria Thamann were the next best finishers, coming in 16th and 17th.

“The girls overall have just done an outstanding job,” head coach Shannon Moldovan said of the team’s progress this season.
Sophomores Therese Thamann, Angie Loriso, and freshman Katelyn Woosley all excelled, setting personal and season records at the meet as well.

In the regional meet on Halloween, both teams continued their successful seasons. The men’s team finished eleventh overall with 229 points while the women’s team finished seventh with 211.
