The Vicksburg men’s soccer team ended an extremely rough season with a 0-5 loss to Edwardsburg at home. “It was a tough season for the boys,” head coach Mike Moldovan said.

Though they were nowhere near to being a winning team this year, head coach Moldovan was still pleased with how they competed.

The Bulldogs had offensive difficulties in putting the ball in the net all season. They narrowly avoided a 12-game losing streak to end the season with a 1-1 tie with Sturgis at home in the last game of September.

In spite of the rough season, the young team’s efforts showed clearly throughout the course of the season. “They never were down on themselves,” Moldovan said. “They came to every practice, there was never any complaining.”

The season gives the young team experience and they have room to grow. Moldovan said the team will be able to build on this season and are already working on improving together. He said some are planning to participate in indoor soccer leagues this winter to help hone their skills.

For a growing young team, perhaps the biggest x-factor for the next few seasons will be their perseverance. “They all had a great attitude,” Moldovan said. “There was never a down moment for the team.”
