Adding to all the festivities of the Second Battle of Sunset Lake, will be a trip down memory lane for old car buffs in Vicksburg on Saturday, June 24 at the Depot Museum. The Oakland-Pontiac Car Club Worldwide, will be driving its 35 or more vehicles to Vicksburg from Kalamazoo to be in the parade at 10:30 and offer car rides to the public from 1 to 2 p.m.

The Kalamazoo area was selected for its heritage and historical significance not to mention its friendly Midwest charm, according to John Armstrong, the event’s organizer. Tour guests will come from as far away as Australia, California, Florida and Pennsylvania. Cars from the Teen’s to the Fifty’s will be participating in this four-day driving tour.

The club was formed in 2009 as an offshoot of the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA). Armstrong is one of its founding members. He will be bringing three of his own antique cars, one being a convertible that will be featured in the parade at 10:30 a.m. through downtown Vicksburg. He will offer rides in it later for free but donations will be accepted to benefit the Vicksburg Historical Society.
