Waldo returns to local shops, but where?

by | Jul 2025 | Community

Many kids and adults dressed in red and white striped attire gather in the middle of Downtown Vicksburg for fun and games.
Don’t miss the Great Waldo Celebration during the BURG Days of Summer.

Waldo, that bespectacled kid in the striped shirt, is about to make appearances in 25 Vicksburg stores during the month of July. The trick is to find him in those stores.

It might not be easy. His first name is “Where’s”.

The Where’s Waldo hunt will be going on across the nation in more than 300 communities with independent bookstores communities, all looking for a boost in foot traffic and resulting customers.

In Vicksburg, the bookstore is Gilbert and Ivy on South Main at Prairie. Participants can pick up a “Find Waldo Local in Vicksburg!” stamp card at any of the stores. With each miniature Waldo they spot, searchers get their card stamped or signed by the participating shop. Eagle-eyed hunters can also look for Waldo’s special magnifying glass hidden in the bookstore. Collecting store stamps or signatures at 20 or more businesses will entitle seekers entry into a grand-prize drawing for Waldo books and other prizes.

All are welcome at the Great Waldo Celebration! on July 23, 2025, one of the BURG Days of Summer. This year, the celebration will be featuring a Waldo Look-a-Like Contest and prize drawings. Free Waldo hats will be provided to the first 50 guests who attend the Great Waldo Celebration.
