The Vicksburg varsity boys’ tennis team almost made it to the state meet this year, ultimately missing a chance at qualifying by only two points at Regionals.
It wasn’t quite what the Bulldogs had hoped for going into the tournament, but the team did have some high finishers. Landon Enderich earned a Regional Champion title in the four singles. Gio Gangloff was runner-up in the three singles.
Vicksburg had strong showings at the Conference meet where the team took third place with 44 points. The Wolverine Conference was especially competitive in 2025. The Bulldogs came into the Conference meet tied in the standings with Paw Paw and Sturgis. Vicksburg played both teams to a 4-4 tie in the regular season. Sturgis came out on top with Paw Paw as the runner-up.
Maddox Rosalin was the Wolverine Conference Champion in the one singles. The team also produced three runners-up finishes. These included Wes Post in the two singles, Gangloff in the three singles, and Enderich in four singles.
The team of Ryan Smith and Caleb Robbins pick up a third-place finish in three doubles. They also earned an Honorable Mention Wolverine All-Conference. Jasper Kling and Griffin Schiedel had a victory over Edwardsburg in the tournament at two doubles but later fell to Otsego and Niles. Liam Herson and Andrew Cheng couldn’t get past Edwardsburg or Paw Paw, falling in both number one doubles contests. Drake Reitenour and Spencer Sertic put up a good fight against Otsego and Sturgis but got eliminated in both matches.
The good news is that the Bulldogs can build off this season for next year. Head Coach Nick Foley earned Conference Coach of the Year in his first season for the Bulldogs. Additionally, Post, Rosalin, and Gangloff are the only graduating seniors.
