Wrestling post season began February 11 at Schoolcraft High School with the Division 4 District 221 Championship. Teams competing for the team championship were Schoolcraft, Centreville, Mendon and White Pigeon. Centreville defeated Mendon while Schoolcraft defeated White Pigeon, sending the Eagles to face off against the Bulldogs of Centreville in the District Championship.
The contest started in the 285-pound class with Centreville’s Chase Jones defeating Schoolcraft’s Asher Snyder. The contests went back and forth, with wins by each team. The last weight class to compete was the 215-pound where Schoolcraft’s Marshall Steinhart defeated Centreville’s Kahle Reinhold, giving the Eagles the overall win by a score of 42-34 and the District 221 title and advancing the Eagles Team to the Regional Championships.
The next event for the Eagles was the Individual Districts. After a long day on the mats, the top 4 grapplers from each weight class advance to Individual Regionals. Eagles that advanced were at 126 lb. Garrett Randall, who took the Championship, 106 lb. Bryce Bozell 2nd place, 150 lb. Lucas Norra 2nd place, 175 lb. Darian Jacobs 2nd place, 120 lb. Royce Boggs 4th place, 144 lb. Jamison Hunt 4th place and 157 lb. Brock Drewyor 4th place. In the Girls District Dalyn Bogard took the runner-up in the 125 lb. Class, advancing to Girls Regionals.
On the 18th at Schoolcraft, the wrestling mats were unrolled again, this time for the team Regional Championship where 4 teams would compete to advance onto the Team State Championships at Wings Event Center on the 27th and 28th
Schoolcraft, Reading, Galesburg and Union City competed. The Eagles defeated the Reading team 58-21 while Union City defeated Galesburg 71-12 advancing them to the championship. Union City was too overwhelming for the Eagles. Union City advanced to the Team State Championships winning 46-33.
Individual Regionals were held at Martin High school on the 21st. Schoolcraft’s Garrett Randel and Darion Jacobs placed and advance to the Individual State Championships at Ford Field on March 6 and 7..
