Walter “Walt” J. Wesoloski, of Vicksburg passed away on Monday, June 1, 2026, at the age of 91. Walt was born on March 22, 1935, in Comstock, MI. He was the son of James and Mary (Rapacz) Wesoloski. He was a man whose life was filled with dedication and unwavering faith. Walt’s journey was one deeply rooted in service—to his church, family and country.

Walt attended Vicksburg High School, spending time on the football team. Shortly after, he answered the call to serve his nation, enlisting in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1957. He continued to fulfill his military commitment in the reserves, receiving an Honorary Discharge in 1962.

Central to Walt’s life was the love he shared with Jane Acker, whom he married on June 28, 1958. Their marriage was the pride of his life, spanning an extraordinary 68 years, during which he fondly referred to Jane as his “Beautiful Bride.” This enduring partnership was a cornerstone of his happiness and strength.

He had a strong affinity for dogs (not cats!) adopting a mutt from the Humane Society and multiple Springer Spaniels.

As a skilled carpenter, Walt’s built and shaped mostly commercial structures, working alongside various contractors, including work at Bronson Hospital, Upjohn, and other well-known businesses around the Kalamazoo area. Above all else Walt was deeply committed to his faith and community as an active member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church and the Vicksburg Lion’s Club. He was a true local boy who supported Vicksburg High School Athletic programs, often attending sporting events. He also enjoyed watching sports on television – football, baseball, golf, rodeo. Mostly though he was a faithful follower of the Detroit Tigers.

His personality reflected his values—faithfulness to God, devotion to family, and loyalty to country. Those who knew him remember Walt as a generous spirit, a man who gave freely of his time and kindness.

In his leisure moments, Walt enjoyed simple pleasures that brought him joy: playing golf at States Golf Course, engaging in ice fishing, and sharing coffee at Yogi’s in Vicksburg. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends: playing cards, participating in a Diners’ Club, entertaining at their backyard pool. Holidays were spent enjoying Polish traditions with family. When it came to cooking, if he wasn’t manning the grill cooking steaks or burgers, you could find him frying a pan of fish or chicken. After retirement, Walt and Jane enjoyed travel to many of their bucket list destinations including Australia/New Zealand, Alaska, Hawaii, Canadian Rockies, Bar Harbor, Branson, and Florida.

Walt leaves behind a life well-lived and a lasting imprint on his family and community.

Walt is survived by his wife of almost 68 years, Jane; four children: Mary Lynn Wesoloski, of Kalamazoo; Mike (Marisol) Wesoloski, of Alabama; Jane Schelb, of Portage; and Steve (Nancy) Wesoloski, of Rochester Hills; six grandchildren: Alex Schelb, Jackson (Sara) Schelb, Delaney Schelb, Kyle Wesoloski, Conner Wesoloski, and Chloe Wesoloski; and two great grandchildren: Julian and Leland. He is also survived by his two siblings: Edward “Butch” (Karen) Wesoloski, of Three Rivers and Lou Ann Ambro, of Richland; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother: Jim Wesoloski; his sister: Elizabeth “B.J” Wesoloski; his sister-in-law: Jo Wesoloski and brother-in-law: Mike Ambro.
