The Schoolcraft Eagles baseball team capped off an impressive 2026 season with a District and Regional Championships and a trip to the MHSAA Division 3 State Quarterfinals.
The Eagles finished third in the SAC standings with a 6-5-1 conference record and posted an overall record of 17-15-1, good for a .530 winning percentage.
Schoolcraft’s postseason run began on May 30 in Watervliet during District Championship play. The Eagles opened the day with a dominant 12-1 victory over Lawton before turning around and defeating host Watervliet 8-1 to capture the District Championship trophy.
The Eagles returned to Watervliet on June 3 for the Regional Semifinals against Niles-Brandywine. Schoolcraft continued its strong postseason play, defeating the Bobcats 13-3. The game ended via the mercy rule when Zach Graber delivered a walk-off hit, sending the Eagles to the Regional Championship.
Awaiting Schoolcraft was Pewamo-Westphalia, which eliminated the Eagles boys basketball team in the State Semifinals earlier in the school year. The Regional Championship matchup took place on June 6 at Kalamazoo Central High School, with the winner advancing to the State Quarterfinals later that same day.
The Eagles rose to the occasion, defeating the Pirates 3-1 to claim the Regional Championship and earn a spot among the final eight teams in Division 3.
Later that afternoon, Schoolcraft faced Kalamazoo Christian in the State Quarterfinals. The Comets struck early, scoring six runs in the first inning to put the Eagles in a difficult position. Schoolcraft got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning, but the Eagles were unable to mount a comeback and fell 9-2, bringing their memorable season to an end.
Despite the loss, the Eagles finished the season with multiple championships and a Regional title, marking one of the program’s most successful postseason runs in recent years.
Schoolcraft will graduate two seniors from this year’s team. Both will continue their baseball careers at the collegiate level, Jacob Taylor at Aquinas College, Cody Priest at Adrian College.
With a strong foundation in place and valuable postseason experience gained, the future remains bright for Schoolcraft baseball.
