Eleven Schoolcraft Eagles track and field athletes represented the school at the Division 3 State Championships on May 30 at Kent City High School, competing against the state’s top athletes and bringing home several All-State honors.
The Eagles were represented by five girls — Brooklyn Brown, Cali Edwards, Lillian Sniderman, Carley Couk, and Harper Musselmanx, and six boys — Drew Enright, Langston Richardson, Saxton Abfall, Beckett Boyes, Austin Glerum, and Benjamin Jirkins.
Enright turned in the highest finish for the Eagles on the boys’ side, placing fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.65 seconds. Enright broke his own school record twice during the state meet and earned All-State honors with his fourth-place finish.
Enright and Richardson also competed in the finals of the 300-meter hurdles. Enright finished fifth while Richardson placed eighth, with both athletes earning All-State recognition by medaling in the event.
The boys 4×100-meter relay team of Boyes, Richardson, Abfall, and Enright finished 15th overall with a time of 44.54 seconds.
In the boys 4×400-meter relay, the team of Richardson, Austin Glerum, Jirkins, and Enright placed 21st with a season-ending time of 3:34.88.
On the girls’ side, the 4×100-meter relay team delivered one of the top performances of the day. Couk, Musselman, Edwards, and Sniderman finished fifth overall in a season-best time of 50.99 seconds, earning a spot on the medal stand and concluding the year with their fastest performance of the season.
The lone Schoolcraft field event qualifier was Brown in the high jump. She cleared 5 feet, 1 inch to finish seventh overall and earned All-State honors for her performance.
The Eagles concluded the state championships with four athletes earning All-State recognition: Enright in the 110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles, Richardson in the 300-meter hurdles, and Brown in the high jump. The strong showing capped off an outstanding season for Schoolcraft track and field.
