History comes alive this fall at the Vicksburg Cemetery Tours, a unique afternoon of storytelling and remembrance on Saturday, October 3 at Schoolcraft Township (Vicksburg) Cemetery. The event, hosted by the Vicksburg Historical Society, will feature veterans buried in the cemetery.
The tour will have a total of 12 stops featuring several families where multiple generations served during wartime, as well as Edward Lightfoot, who died in a plane accident over England during WWII and Frank Rusoti, an Italian immigrant who served during WWI.
Whether you’re a local history buff or looking for a memorable fall outing, the Vicksburg Cemetery Tours provide an afternoon of reflection, discovery, and community spirit. Comfortable shoes are recommended. The tour will cover the north section of the cemetery and part of the south section.
Tickets are available for purchase starting Saturday, September 5 at 10 a.m. They may be purchased on vicksburghistory.org, with the link found in the event calendar or on Facebook. You can also purchase tickets at the Depot Museum at 300 N. Richardson, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Friday through Sunday. Prices are $12 for Vicksburg Historical Society members and $15 for the general public.
