Lady Bulldogs Struggle Throughout the Season

The Lady Bulldogs varsity basketball team met up against Otsego after the winter break but suffered a 52-24 loss on Otsego’s court.  Liz Weddon led Vicksburg with six points and six rebounds.  Haley Klingele and Jessi Kelley each added four, with Kelley also contributing six rebounds.  Alicia Cagney and Grace Welch added another three each, while India Ash and Amber Beal put another two each on the scoreboard for Vicksburg.

On January 13, travelling to Three Rivers , the Bulldogs took another  hit when the Wildcats handed the Bulldogs a 49-21 loss.   Welch and Brianna Wines added six apiece, with Olivia Holmes and Beal tallying another three each, and Layna Steel  and Morgan Bullock each adding two. Weddon and Welch took the lead in rebounds with six and five respectively.

Hosting the Edwardsburg Eddies on January 15, Vicksburg fought hard, but couldn’t pull off the win.  With the 61-51 score, Steel hit double digits with 13, as did Klingele with 11.  Welch landed eight and Ash seven, with Weddon sinking four as well as nine rebounds.  Wines contributed three, as did Bullock who also snagged seven rebounds.

On the 17th, the Bulldogs again played host but this time to the Allegan Tigers.  Unfortunately, the Bulldogs were again defeated in double digits by a score of 49-23.  Bullock sank six, with three rebounds, and Holmes and Weddon chalked up another four each, with Weddon retrieving six rebounds as well.  Meaghan Wright hit a 3-point shot, while Kingele, Ash and Steele tallied two each.

The rest of the January games were cancelled, due to the winter storm, to be rescheduled in February.
