May arrives at long last

The Baltimore orioles have returned to our neighborhood, and we are stockpiling grape jelly. May in all her finery is here!

Special delivery!

Finn enjoyed delivering April’s South County News to area businesses with his grandma. She shared that he received a few requests for his signature because he appeared on last month’s cover. Rest assured he can write his name in cursive!

Healthy Hearts Lunch and Learn workshop a success

Nearly fifty seniors attended the Healthy Hearts Lunch and Learn event, sponsored by South County Community Services and held at the South County Senior Center for Active Living. The event started with conversation and a heart healthy lunch. Then attendees split into 4 groups and rotated to stations where twenty-minute sessions were led by 4 area doctors. Dr. Lloyd Appell, family doctor, shared ideas in living life getting the most out of “a new normal”; Dr. Katie Grossman, internal medicine hospitalist, shared information regarding healthy nutrition and physical activity; Dr. David Schriemer, family doctor, shared ideas how to talk to doctors to get the most out of an appointment; and Dr. Paula Schriemer, anesthesiologist, gave her group tips for a healthy surgical outcome.

Missing column

Don’t worry! Danna Downing’s column, A Senior Moment, which focuses on senior issues, will be back next month.
