Michigan Notable Books Author Tour
The Vicksburg District Library has been chosen again to host a Michigan Notable Book author. Donald Lystra, author of “Searching for Van Gogh”, a 2025 Michigan Notable Book, will visit the Vicksburg District Library on June 5 at 6 p.m. for a reading, presentation, and audience Q&A. A book signing will follow. Each title selected as a Michigan Notable Book “speaks to our state’s rich cultural, historical, and literary heritage and proves without a doubt that some of the greatest stories are found in the Great Lakes State.”
“Searching for Van Gogh” follows Nate, a young man who abandons his future in science to pursue painting, driven by the grief of his brother’s death. He meets Audrey Brubaker, who becomes an unexpected mentor, guiding him through a journey of self-discovery and forcing him to confront his deepest fears and learn the power of empathy and courage.
The book is available for purchase at local bookstore Gilbert and Ivy and will soon be available for checkout from the library’s collection. There will also be books for purchase and signing at the event.
