Skylar Rogenski, a Vicksburg track star in the long jump, will be taking her talents to Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio for the 2017-18 school year on an academic scholarship. “She is very driven both academically and on the track team,” said her father, Christopher, who is with her in the picture. In her specialty, a jump of 15.47 feet last year in the Wolverine Conference was her best distance. She captained the girls’ track team last year, acting something like the team’s “mom”, she said. “The team is like my family. The team dynamics are like nothing else I have experienced. I love all the girls, they are so great.”

Besides track and field, Rogenski has participated in Education for Employment (EFE) while in high school with an emphasis on health care. She had an internship with Bronson Hospital while participating in National Honor Society in her junior year. “I love kids and hope to become a physicians’ assistant with a specialty in pediatrics. I also liked working at the Heritage facility in Kalamazoo helping to care for seniors who live there.

Rogenski placed first in regional competition for Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) for prepared speaking. Her topics dealt with leadership, service and dedication.
