Pavilion becomes charter township

by | May 2023 | Community

Pavilion Township, north of Brady Township, incorporated as a charter township through a resolution adopted April 10.

The change from a general law township provides Pavilion with greater self-governance, more flexibility with its finances, and additional administrative authority. One immediate impact, township officials said in a prepared statement, will be a contract with the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department to provide a dedicated, full-time deputy. Another important feature is enhanced annexation protection. Pavilion is bordered by Portage on the west side.

Township Supervisor John Speeter invites questions or comments, either by phone at 269-327-0462 or by a direct visit to Township Hall, 7510 East Q Ave, Scotts.
