Big Red Machine Marches from Band Camp to Stadium

The school years began early for the 200 members of Vicksburg High School’s Big Red Machine marching band, with seven days of intensive training at band camp the first week in August. A bunch of tired, sweaty, but enthusiastic band members put on a dazzling display of their skill sets, upon return for hundreds of parents and friends at the Bulldog stadium.

The first performance of the year found the 200-strong band displaying its talents at the first home football game on August 27. The Band Boosters are still in the throes of raising money to pay for new uniforms, since the band has grown from 180 to 200 this year. To that end, they are raffling a 1990 red Chrysler LeBaron at the Homecoming game on Friday, September 25. Tickets are available online at vicksburgbands.com. They also have a 5K Glow Run scheduled for October 10 at dusk to raise money.
